Week 2 Discussion Post
Discussion Post (week 2)
Does a Number of Friends or connections on social media have a positive outlook on mental health?
Definitely not. Any type of follower or friend on social media is a recipe for a terrible mental health. It creates fake goals for yourself, now that everyone can see a thousand people go about their life, and only showing their life in the best possible outlooks. This creates a jealous society making people want what they can't have, just like people are never satisfied... This could also be good thing for motivation, it creates that push to make you try something different.
Do social networking sites have different benefits and drawbacks?
Every networking app/site has its perks and cons, but most of them negatively decline the mental area. Some examples could be Instagram portraying everyone at their best, false advertising some popular influencers. People using instagram can truly believe this is how they should look, and yes it could be a positive way to see yourself for the better, but it's not good for the mental health to see things like this consistently. Just a constant reminder you will never be the best.
I found this link to an article talking about negative body images, this relating to most younger women.
A realization to body image issues.
